How much do I need to spend on a Radio setup?

Choosing the Right Radio Setup for Motorsport

As a motorsport competitor, radio options can seem confusing — and the right solution often depends on the type of motorsport you’re involved in.

At SpeedTech, we only supply digital radios, because they’re simply superior in every way — clearer, more reliable, and better performing than analogue.

Every setup is unique, and that’s why we encourage customers to contact us. We’re here to help you find the right solution, not to upsell you. There are many options available today, and the best choice depends on what works for your car, team, and budget.

For example:

  • In a circuit car, you’ll usually need an in-car radio that can receive two channels (the track channel and your crew channel).

  • We’ll also look at helmet options — do you already have inserts, or do we need to supply them?

  • For your crew, would you prefer headsets or shoulder microphones?

Our job is to handle the technical details and provide you with a solution that just works. Our install instructions are simplistic and written for drivers, not electronics engineers!

After-Sales Support

Our service doesn’t end with the sale — it starts there. We’re committed to helping you through any setup or performance issues until everything is running smoothly.

How Much Do I Need to Spend?

That’s a common question — and the good news is, you don’t need to spend thousands to get a reliable setup. We’ve heard of competitors paying over $3,000 for a simple solution, but our customers typically spend less than half that.

All SpeedTech equipment is 100% RSM type-approved and comes with a full warranty, so you can buy with confidence.

Are Your Radios Cheap Imports?

We sometimes hear comments that our radios are “cheap Chinese radios.” The reality is, yes, they’re made in China — but so are most electronics today, including many of the premium brands you’ve heard of. We are open to the challenge of any brand of hardware, as we have found all of the commercial-grade hardware to be of similar quality and range/sensitivity. Our Car to Crew radios are IP67 rated, which means they can withstand all the harsh conditions you can throw at them. We have numerous reference sites that have utilised our equipment and tested it to its limits (in many cases alongside brands like Motorola). The results show that our equipment stands the test of time and in many cases, outperforms the competitors.

Our radios are top-of-the-line hardware, built in the same factories as those high-priced competitors — just without the inflated price tag.

Our advice to you is to take the time to talk to us, even if you have been deterred in the past by overpriced quotes; give us a chance. Let’s Talk 🙂
